As a communications and marketing professional, I am honored to be able to bring my skillset and experience to higher education. I am passionate and committed to growing my career in this field.
Today, I am working at Emory University in the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, which includes three schools, a national primate center, a cancer institute, a global health institute, and the entire Emory healthcare system. As the director of media relations, I work to position Emory as a leading academic medical center, showcasing the expertise of faculty and researchers in top tier media outlets. I also oversee our research communications program, developing press releases and messaging about research breakthroughs that drive health discovery and clinical excellence. I have a strong team of writers and media relations professionals who excel in communications and content development. As a team, we ensure the stories of Emory are shared far and wide and that our experts have a voice that educates the public on health sciences research that impacts everyone.
Prior to Emory, I spent six years deeply immersed in the research culture of Georgia Tech, working as a communications program manager for the College of Engineering and then as a research communications director for the Institute, leading a team of nine. My team was made up of writers and content creators who covered groundbreaking research, as well as marketing and communications managers who supported various business units within the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research. We ensured the stories of Georgia Tech’s research, commercialization, and economic development impact were shared widely, positioning our researchers as thought leaders in their fields.
In addition to storytelling, I am a content creator. For the past 15 years, I have collaborated with teams across academia and industry to produce annual reports, magazines, podcasts, newsletters, videos, social media posts, website content, case studies and more. Much of this content has created awareness, promoted thought leadership, and fostered public relations to enhance brand narratives across many industries.
